This is a nice paper with very few citations yet (only one, to be precise, and even that by one of the authors). Perhaps it repels readers because of this rather tedious cartoon. It is the unadorned (but annotated) CSHKP cartoon, explicitly 2D in nature and probably not a good guide to the microphysics of the 3D process.
