Sakamoto, Y., Tsuneta, S., and Vekstein, G., "Observational Appearance of Nanoflares with SXT and TRACE," ApJ. 689, 1421 (2008). ADS
One of the few cartoons in the Archive that aims to represent nanoflares. This is a bit surprising, since (although there is little convincing evidence for their existence) there has been theoretical and modeling development on a massive scale. Note that the cartoon shows sub-pixel structure in the form of multiple strands, but that these strands are not braided. Thus in a sense the cartoon does an injustice to the Parker theoretical scheme.
At least as regards the SXT observations, this paper needs to be considered in the context of the Labonte & Reardon description of the additional variance due to the range of photon energies detected.
