• The hard X-rays in the April 18 event reveal fast electrons entrained in an expanding CME structure.

• The electrons require in-situ acceleration over extended times.

• These particles are energetically important, because of the low density at an altitude of 1-2 x 10⁵ km; are they particles also dynamically important?

• Trapping within the CME offers a mechanism for SEP injection time delays as a result of driven reconnection in the middle corona.
