SSL's Friday Solar Lunch (FSL) Journal Club

Time: every Friday, 12 noon - 1 p.m.

Place: nominally, Silver Lab, Room 247; for special occasions, the Addition Conference Room or Addition Library.

Coordinator: Brian Welsch, who can be e-mailed via welsch at ssl, berkeley, edu.

With this informal weekly discussion, devoted to theoretical and observational research topics in solar and solar-terrestrial physics, we keep abreast of progress by our own reasearchers and others in the field.

Rotating discussion leaders either outline their current work --- even if only half-baked! --- or review journal articles and preprints by other researchers. Visitors are encouraged to lead a discussion about their work.

For talks about work in progress, topics can range from science & results, to ideas for proposals, to more mundane issues --- algorithms we are developing or applying, data reduction techniques, etc. (Discussion of unsolved problems is encouraged!)

The default weekly meeting, typically over pizza, consists of an hour's off-the-cuff discussion using white boards and, occasionally, a laptop projector to show images and movies. (PowerPoint is, however, Verboten! [Except by special arrangement, or bribery.])

Reviewed journal articles might be chosen from the list of Suggested Titles.
